Saving Money With Site-cast Tilt-Up

Summit Concrete is a pioneer for Kansas City in the area of Architectural Tilt-Up. We are continually innovating the building process and setting the Benchmark for new Tilt-up construction techniques which were used on Oddo Development Buildng A & Building B.

Summit Concrete perfomed all the concrete work, including the Design/Build for the wall panels on this project.

The owner originally conceived the buildings as plant cast precast but Summit Concrete was able to shave over $150,000 off the cost of the two proposed buildings by casting tilt up panels on site.

This project was designed and built using cast-on-site concrete wall panels with exposed aggregate.

This 70,000 SF Tilt-up Office facility holds one of the most extensive uses of exposed aggregate tilt up in the Midwest, one-hundred percent of the exterior finishes were exposed aggregate.

(Summit Concrete is the only contractor in Kansas City with the ability to deliver exposed aggregate to the tilt-up market.)

If constructing exposed aggregate Tilt-up panels on site wasn’t enough of a herculean challenge, Summit performed this work in the dead of winter and still achieved great results..

A tremendous amount of coordination was utilized to design, construct, erect, and detail the panels with daily QA/QC meetings and checklists performed to ensure uniform finishes.
